This is the first week of marking period 6. We will begin this marking period working in the book Filling and Wrapping and will finish the marking period working in Kaleidoscopes, Hubcaps, and Mirrors. This week we will look at how nets are two dimensional representations of three dimensional shapes and will be calculating the surface area and volume of these shapes.
Monday May 4: Filling and Wrapping, Investigation 1.3. In this investigation students will use the net of a rectangular prism to calculate the surface area and volume.

Tuesday May 5: Filling and Wrapping, Investigation 1.4. In this investigation students will develop an understanding of the relationship betwen the dimensions of a rectangular prism and its surface area.

Wednesday May 6: Filling and Wrapping, Investigation 2.1. In this investigation students will
connectthe dimensions of a rectangular prism to its volume and surface area and understand that rectangular prisms may have the same volume but quite different surface areas.
